Choosing Me First: A Journey with Zoie Health

Last week, I received a thoughtful little survey from Zoie Health asking me to help them curate a wellness package tailored to my current needs. I decided to hold off on publishing this article until I had received and experienced the package myself, because this one felt a bit more personal.

I’m deep in my postpartum journey, navigating the joys of motherhood while trying not to drown in the overwhelm that often comes with it. I usually share everything I receive, but this time, when I saw the survey, I knew I had to keep this, one for myself. It felt like a gift from me to me and honestly, sometimes as African women, we need to learn that it’s okay to put ourselves first too.

The package is still on the way, but once it arrives, I’ll definitely be sharing snippets and unboxings on the gram, so keep an eye out for that!

Zoie Health: Putting African Women First

For far too long, women’s health across the continent has been swept under the rug. We’ve been told to “just deal with it”, whether it’s painful periods, fatigue, mood swings, fertility struggles, or the complex journey of hormonal imbalances. But a proudly South African brand is flipping the script.

Zoie Health is South Africa’s first digital platform dedicated entirely to women’s health. Built by women, for women, Zoie is committed to providing science-backed, accessible, and culturally relevant wellness solutions. Whether you’re in Johannesburg, Mthatha, or Bulawayo, this brand is making it easier for women to prioritise their health without shame, confusion, or misinformation.

And now? They’re taking that mission a step further by expanding their supplement range beyond online platforms like Takealot, Makro, Zulzi, and Uber Eats. Their products are already available at Clicks, with Dis-Chem shelves to follow by September 2025. This means real access, real options and real change for South African women, wherever they are.

What Makes Zoie Health Different?

This is not your usual “one-size-fits-all” wellness solution. Every single product has been designed with intention, by a team of doctors, pharmacists, and dieticians who understand the unique needs of women, especially African women.

Co-founder and CEO Thato Schermer puts it perfectly:

“We wanted to create solutions that are as dynamic and resilient as the women we serve.”

Formulating pharmacist Naznin Bhom adds:

“Women are often dismissed or handed generic solutions. We wanted to change that with personalised, science-backed products that really work.”

Registered dietician Deidre Huysamen explains that every ingredient in the supplements was chosen for a specific purpose, from balancing hormones to improving gut health, and supporting women through fertility, libido, and bloating challenges.

All products are:

Sugar-free Halaal-certified Gluten-friendly Proudly made in South Africa

The Range: What’s In the Box?

Whether you’re a new mum, navigating PCOS, or preparing for menopause, Zoie Health’s got something for you. Here are a few of their most popular blends:

PCOS Pro – Supports hormonal balance and insulin sensitivity for women with PCOS. Cycle Calm – Helps ease PMS and period pain. Bye Bye Bloat – Targets gut health and digestive discomfort.

Libido Lift – Boosts energy and sexual wellness.

They even have a quick “Find Your Supplement Match” quiz, guiding women toward the product that fits their journey, not the generic one society offers.

Real Stories. Real Women. Real Results.

Women across the country are already seeing life-changing results. One woman shared on Trustpilot:

“I was diagnosed with early menopause at 25. Nothing had worked, until Zoie. I started Fertility Flair on the 2nd of June, and by the 10th, my period returned after 109 days. I cried. Now I’m hoping my next review includes a baby bump.”

This is the power of African solutions for African women.

A Brand With Heart

Zoie Health is more than just a wellness brand. A portion of every purchase goes toward NGOs fighting gender-based violence, sexual trafficking, and period poverty. It’s not just about healing individual women, it’s about healing entire systems.

As African women, we are often taught to soldier on in silence, to put everyone else before ourselves. But Zoie Health is a reminder that our wellness deserves a seat at the table too.

So, to the new mum, the working woman, the student, the auntie, the gogo, may this be your sign to choose you. Just like I did.

And once that curated box lands on my doorstep? You’ll catch all the gems on my Instagram. 😉
