Johannesburg, get ready. In March 2026, Maison Martell, the world’s oldest cognac house, will unveil The Maison, a cultural residence set to embed itself within Africa’s most influential creative cities. And the first chapter begins right here at home.
More than just a venue, The Maison is an audaciously curated space where French cognac heritage is reimagined through a distinctly South African lens. No two cities will experience it the same way. Each iteration is shaped by local identity, culture, and creative energy.
In Johannesburg, Martell will collaborate with leading voices across culinary arts, music, fashion, and design, blending heritage with contemporary influence. Expect immersive, limited-time moments: intimate live performances, chef-led dining collaborations, bespoke tastings, design installations, and art-driven experiences. Every “room” is crafted to be discovered, turning each visit into something collectible, luxury designed to linger long after the last pour.
Tintswalo Baloyi, Category Director: Prestige & High Energy at Pernod Ricard South Africa, describes it as a meeting point between Martell’s philosophy of time and craft and South Africa’s thriving creative economy a space to slow down and experience luxury with intention.
In contrast to Johannesburg’s relentless pace, The Maison is built around slow luxury: long lunches, late dinners, meaningful conversation, and precisely crafted cocktails. Here, luxury is measured in time and depth rather than spectacle.
Access will be intentionally limited, with only a small number of tickets released daily to preserve the intimacy of the experience.
